My 10 year old granddaughter was just  diagnosed..and was told to be on a gluten free diet..I did some research. Just wondering if anyone knows of a pamphlet or book or best internet source for information to guide my daughter and my little granddaughter??

I don't have an answer for your specific question, however I can tell you that Trader Joe's has a great selection of gluten free foods to choose from.  I hope there is a TJ's near them.  Most grocery stores have some gluten free products now.

tylersydney,

I am not sure these are the best, but they are a starting point.  I just did a search on "Celiac Disease".

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/celiacdisease.html

There are book on Amazon.com, but have no idea which is right for them.  I would suggest just searching the internet and getting into the information on the second site above for the National organization and other sites listed.

Best of luck,  Bob

Dear tylersydney:

I am sorry to hear about your granddaugther.   The good news it that the information available and understanding of celiac disease has improved vastly over the last 10 years.  There are two organizations The Celica Disease Foundation www.celiac.org/ and the Celica Sprue assocation www.csaceliacs.org/ which both have good, reliable phamphlets available to get your granddaughter started.  I encourage your daughter to make an appointment with a registered dietitian who is familar with celiac diease (most dietitians who specialize in gastrointestinal disorders would be) as the diet is the heart of the treatment for celiac.
