Hi Everyone:

I finally got the results of my blood work from the doctor.  My A1C is back down to 5.5 from 6.3! I'm so happy.  Things are finally starting to come together.

Hi Ron:

A few years ago my A1C was 5.3.  I'm not striving to get back there, I am happy with th 5.5.  A couple of years ago I let everything get out of hand and my BS soared and A1C went up to 8.  I was not well, got into a couple of car accidents, was falling asleep all the time and falling down a lot. I gained about 60 pounds, which I have now lost, but still have a long way to go. At that high point, my PCP suggested that I retire on disability or I would probably die.  I knew he was right so I went home and called my administrator and said I wasn't coming back.  I didn't feel badly about it either as I had given them 18 years of my life and they really didn't care.  It was finally realizing that which made me realize that this was what I needed to do and I needed to do it now.  I was on Lantus and Novolog and in February I changed from Lantus to Levemir and have decreased from 68 units a day to 48.  Even then I still have a low now and then.

Thanks for the encouragement from everyone.  It really helps. It is cold this morning and as I sit here cozy and warm in my sweatshirt, it is time to get ready to go  out to the Y to swim (hope the water is warm today).
