I am witnessing my grandaughter slowly killing herself  with food.  The family has taken her to pyschiatrists, nutrition counselors, endo doctors, eating disorder specialists , to no avail.  Catch 22 with insurance companies.  If she is hospitalized for her diabetes, they will not treat the mental disorder.  If she is hospitalized for mental disorder, they will not treat the diabetes.  Does Joslin or anyone have a facility that would treat both, that is within driving distance.   We live in New Jersey.

I am sorry to hear about your granddaughter.  I am so glad that you are asking for help.  It is very hard to find a facility that will treat both diabetes and mental health related issues.  There is one facility that I have heard of that specializes in treating both diabetes and mental health related issues and it is called Cumberland Hospital in Virginia.  This is there website:  http://cumberlandhospital.com/chronic-illness/  Unfortunately at the Joslin in Boston we do not have an inpatient facility.  You could make a series of appointments with members of our multidisciplinary team but they will just be outpatient visits.  To make appointments in our pediatric unit at the Joslin you can call 617-732-2603.  Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles.  There is a workbook called Help With The Hard Stuff (cheaper on amazon) that helps kids with compliance issues.  You might look into it.  It's very organized and easy to follow.
