Hi there, new to the board.  Any Type 2's out there who have had bariatric (weight loss) surgery?  I had lapband in July 2007 on the advice of my endocrinologist.  Family history - my sister is Type 1 (double amputee, lost an eye, strokes but still managing at age 53) and my dad (Type 2) died of congestive heart disease at age 71 - the handwriting was on the wall.

How are you doing after surgery?  Complications?  I cannot eat many things, they just don't digest well.  Didn't realize until a recent followup visit that the same rules apply with or w/o surgery - diet and exercise.  Nuts...

Lost 50 pounds, no diabetic meds at the moment, need to lose much more

Dear Deltaday,

I am one of the board's moderators  Congratualations on your weight loss and yes diet and exercise are still the cornerstones to keeping excess weight off.  Good luck
