What does this mean - I have clicked on them and they basically take me back to the top of the page (on the home page).  The first day they did not appear, but the second day they are there now.  Why?

Roberta,

If you run your mouse over the red star, you will see the words "Popular Post."  Apparently posts that a certain number of people are following get that designation.  Gray circle with an X seems to be a new post, one to which others haven't yet responded.  Not sure, but that's my guess.

Oops, Robert, sorry -- Apparently I put an extra "a" on your name -- and now I can't find how to edit my post.

Not to worry - just don't call me late for dinner!  Now they have disappeared again!  This happened on the home page under site activity and were under my name only.  Thought maybe this was to indicate that I was a new member under probation or something similar.

RobertIA is just my way of identifying that I am from IOWA.  And I have posted elsewhere a question to Eric about how to edit.  It is under new board comments with I believe now 7 pages.  Still no answer and I suspect none until at least Monday now.

Iowa Robert --

Not to worry:  As far as I know (and I've been here a while), there's no probationary period on this site.

Thanks kat,

I have been in too many places that have a probation period and several where I have been banned for my outspoken ways.  Many people have a thin skin and I have way style that tends to be a little over the top at times.  Mostly unintentional, but I don't pull to many punches which is one of my bad habits.  If I do offend someone or am completely out of line, I do not mind apologizing, but sometimes it isn't enough.  I do not mind being corrected if I am wrong and I have no hard feelings when I am corrected.

This is unlike any other discussion forum (in this case board) that I have participated in actively.  As such, I am working at trying to tone things down.  Most had rules to be followed, and they were clearly spelled out.

So a medical board like this one where people are here for support and education, is going to be an adjustment for me.  There are so many variables that are important in peoples health and not always hard a fast rules or laws that will apply in every instance.

Since being diagnosed on 04 with type 2, I have been fortunate in being semi-retired and able to do a lot of research and reading about diabetes.  In my opinion, there is so much more information available today than even five years ago, but much has to be weeded through to find what is applicable and what is not.

RobertIA

We have had some pretty hot discussions on this board and I don't think anyone has ever been banned.  the only posts that are deleted are those requesting information for a grant or study, which is not allowed or people who have been determined to be selling something.
