when I had the glucose tolerance test, my sugar fell to 59 after the first hour, then 55 after the second hour. Then another test came back that says I had an exceptionally high insulin level at the same time. The doctor that ordered these tests sent a note to my PCP and said it is a very rare condition, and she did not know what to do. she has not responded to my phone calls which has left me in the dark and naturally it is not my PCP's expertise. Anyone out there experience this or know about this? I feel in a world all by myself. She did tell my PCP I should not be eating any carbohydrates any more, but he informed me I shouldn't even be having milk, so I am confused by all this, so again feel in a world by myself!

I can't offer any easy answers. Would agree it is not a common condition. Can you say why you had the OGTT done?

Is this high insulin level only as a response to carbohydrate ingestion? Or did they also take a fasting baseline level?

If its only in response to Carb. ingestion, then limiting carbs makes sense, as well as sticking to very low GI foods.  You can probably still get adequate intake from non starchy vegetables like spinach and tomatoes and cucumbers, etc.

If its high all the time, well, I have no idea how to approach that.  best of luck and I would not mind keeping informed about your findings.
