Yes, you are right.  Our conversations do seem to evolve into different paths.  Kind of like real conversations, not just cyber ones.  One thing will strike someone and then off we go!  It can get pretty interesting to see where the threads head.  Spirit

Well, fundamentally, Americans at least, are eating more calories and getting less physical activity than any time in history. This leads to a build up of fat in the body.  It has been found that fat actually releases some hormones that increase insulin resistance.  Over time, this can lead to metabolic changes which further push a person along the path to diabetes.    Refined carbohydrates are part of the problem.  Basically, the refining process removes much of the fiber, which we all know is good for us, and also removes some of the nutrients which we need.  So we end up eating more of these and getting less benefit from them.  Not good.   Oils and fats are the same situation.  The consumption of high calorie oils and fats seems to be on the rise.  This is simply more calories than are needed for the average American's physical activity.

So...there are kernels of truth in both nomorecarbs POV and in Ron's POV.   Unfortunately, both have left out the effects of genetics.  If it weren't for a genetic propensity to become diabetic, then none of us would be (barring environmental factors such as alcoholism or pancreatitis).

This new board does take a lot of time to get used to.

I cannot seem to stop getting emails on and about every post. Though I state not to send it still sends all.

Same problem here, Anne,  I even got one from myself!  I know my memory isn't what it used to be, but I really don't see a need to remind my self what I wrote here!

Under the user options I checked no to the last two boxes which say something like "do you allow this site to contact you, and do you allow our partners to contact you". I also checked no in all the e-mail boxes further down. I get no e-mail.

I've been thinking about doing just what Ron did because I'm also getting buried in email.  Somehow when you toggle the "Stop emailing replies to me" - "Email me when someone replies" buttons I started getting email copies of everything that's posted to any of the topics.  Although I've tried both 'positions' I've not yet figured out whether clicking on "Stop emailing..." turns the emails on or off...

This is fantastic......  I was away from the board as an active participant for a few months and after reading this string I feel like I've never been away.

This is fun stuff [grin].
