I would like to know any advice to avoid the weight gain and fluid retention that I'm having since started with Apidra 1 unit /10gr of carbs.I'm taking also Lantus 18 units at bedtime and Metformin 1500mg a day.I did try Simlyn before meals but didn,t control my postmeal peak . My weight was stable on Lantus and Metformin but is going up since I added the rapid acting insulin two monhts ago .I feel very frustrated , gaining too much weight will not help my diabetes.

Thanks in advance for any help or sugestion.

have you met with a dietician?  What do you do for exercise?  Have you told your doctor about the fluid retention?
