i use one-touch ultra glucose monitor and i usually measure before meals. is it possible that these monitors can be faulty? i decided to check my level a few times at a moment and found the readings all different, first it was 127, then 120, then 117, all within the span of 10 seconds. i don't think this is normal. it also doesn't coincide with how i feel. i've noticed that if my sugar is supposedly high, its more difficult for the blood to come out and it's light and thin. but if it is below 90 it gushes out and is darker. lately i will feel like it should be low, and it will say something around 125 or 120. and when i feel like it wouldn't be low, it will say something below 90. i want to know if this means the machine is faulty and what's the battery life of it.

thanks.

Dexcom Seven CGM

I am considering obtaining a Dexcom Seven CGM and am wondering if any one has any experience with the device?

High Blood Sugar

I can tell when my blood sugar is low, I get dizzy, my eyes get spots in front, I generally feel very wierd, ect.

I am wondering anyone can explain to me on this plasma glucose issue. The newer glucose meters in the market are all calibrated to read plasma glucose ( capillary ).

And the whole blood calibrated meters are slowly becoming obsolete as they are less accurate - 10-12% lower than the plasma glucose ( lab values - venous plasma).

Is there a variance between the glucose meter plasma glucose values and the lab's venous plasma? Or is it the same irrelevant which plasma glucose ( capillary/venous).

TQ and have a pleasant day!

I've been pleased with the results, but sometimes there will be at least 30 points difference between BG and interstitial fluid. You have to get used to the fact that the device is not monitoring BG.

Since I live in Arizona, and only get to Joslin once a year, I haven't been able to take very much advantage of the wonderful work being done by Dr. Howard Wolpert.
