Good for you!

Re: Does Electrical Stimulation Work?

I am on a gastric pacer from my gastropersis. It has saved my life!!! Think of it as a pacemaker for your stomach. These devices are very rare because they are only given on a humantarian basis as per FDA rules. I would be happy to tell you more. Let me know how things are going.

Jorgie, could you give me the email address of your doctor? I need more opinions from professionals to evaluate the effects of TENS-like method.

I had never heard of it being used for neuropathy but that doesn't mean much.

Re: Does Electrical Stimulation Work?

Okay, I'll show my ignorance. The only adjustable electical pulse machines I have been aware of is the one my Neurologist used to determine the amount of damage I had from diabetic neuropathy. This is the only thing I am aware of them being used for. When I asked my neurologist if they helped in treatment, he said no, only for diagnosis of extent of damage and for other neurological tests. Now he may not have felt it necessary to tell me more, but you can be assured I am going to ask.

I will be sure that I don't let any health care provider use one on me. Only licensed MD's and DO's who have been trained to know the damage they can cause when improperly used.

Does the method of electrical stimulation really work for DM complications? Is it generally accepted in clinical practice?
