Lopid is gemfibrizol and is prescribed when triglycerides are high enough to cause inflammation of the pancreas. I would guess that if the inflammation is bad enough it could lead to failure of the beta cells, which in turn could cause diabetes. But keep in mind that the Lopid is used to treat this condition and should not cause it.

Question: Link between Lopid Tablets and Diabetes

Question, prior to being diagnosed with Type II Diabetes I was taking Lopid Tablets for heart issues and high cholesterol. Have any of you heard of a link relating diabetes to use of this drug?
