i would like to lose some weight around my tummy! i have my boyfriends prom coming up soon! and i want to look good in my dress but ive tryed running everyother day and eating right and its not working! can anyone help me ?

The mistake most people make is eating not enough calories.  Your body really does shutdown and starts to conserve all the calories it can.  So you need to eat enough to keep your body happy, but less than you normally do so you can lose weight.  Increasing any exercise you do can also help.  One other really important thing to do is make sure you eat some kind of breakfast to get your motor going in the morning.  This gets your body burning calories early and it helps lose weight.  I've found that eating a breakfast that is mostly protein does a better job of keeping me "full" than a bowl of cereal that is mostly carbs.  Good luck.  I hope your prom is a success.
