Diabetes patients especially those with type 1 diabetes need to inject insulin so as to survive. However, with time passing by, more and more patients realize that insulin has side effects, which goes as follows.

1. Low blood sugar

2. increased body weight

3. edema or swelling

4. allergic reaction

5. atrophic basting fat

6. resistance of insulin

only "side effect" I've had has been better blood sugar control.

I did gain about 8lbs the first year....I've lost 3 of those so far.

Have not experienced any of these side effects, other than the occasional low blood sugar which is normal.

Most of these I was informed by my Dr. about also.  While I am not a Dr.,  several of those are controlled by regular active/aerobic exercise thus reducing the need for insulin.  I know several people who are of the mindset where "I am on insulin so I can eat whatever I want as long as I bolus for it."
