Hello.  I have had Type 1 Diabetes for almost 20 years. I have low blood sugars a lot. I know that in the past I have also had some really severe lows. My question is what are the long term affects of having repeated lows say under 50?   I have asked my doctor in the past but they said it doesn't have an affect on you long term.

Can't think of any long term effects, but 50 is dangerously low. I suppose if you were to have lots of seizures that could, or go into a coma that could cause problems. I will say I had repeated lows for quite a few months several years ago, and today if I have a low while sleeping I can not get back to a good sleep.

Sorry to ask but I get curious. Why having 50 is dangerous?

You could go into a Coma, if it went much lower. I once was 42 and almost passed out, luckily I was near a convenience store and could get some juce.
