  • Re: desperate to lose weight

Controlling food intake, trying to maintain a low glycemic load and getting about an hour a day of exercise is what I've seen work for some people in the past. Are you familiar with the glycemic load?

  • Struggling

Been a while since posting here. So, I think my condition has progressed even further. Today, as an example. I woke up with a FBS of 95...all good there. For breakfast I had a zone bar, which is 22g carb and 2 hours later I had a cup of lite greek yogurt at 10 (another 15 g of carbs). Just took my blood sugar and it's 205. :( Currently taking Metformin

  • Re: Should I surrender and start on insulin?

Couple of things.....why are you testing 1 hour afterwards? Most advice I have heard is 2 hours post prandial. Haven't posted in a while. Hope everyone's doing ok.... My condition is still slowly progressing....blood sugars this morning were 100mg/dl. I ate a breakfast that contained 20g carbs and 2.5 hours later, my bg's are still over 200. (sigh). I went ahead and took a small dose of lantus, but looks like it may be time to either go with a split

  • Re: Actos

I was on Actos for years...gained about 15 lbs on it, and no matter what, I couldn't lose weight without starving myself while on it. As soon as I got off of it, I dropped that 15 lbs. Increasing my exercise level was the only way to get the same kind of control I had while on it though. Since then, I've gone over to insulin...and still don't

  • Re: Help

Yes, she needs to see her dr. ASAP! additionally, you might find a copy of a book from the American Diabetes Association at your library....it will have all sorts of information in it regarding what diabetes does to the body. That might help her to make up her mind to go see the dr.

what time do you take your lantus, and how much? I take 14 units currently. Have moved the injection back to about 11 am so that it's still covering me when I wake up.
