Hi Alex, I was diagnosed with macular edema in my left eye in 1982. The treatment then was laser surgery and over a five year period I had five laser surgeries. Scaring from the surgery left me legally blind in that eye. Four years ago I had sucessful cataract surgery...on my right eye. Now I have 20/25 and 20/200 vision. The chance of needing early

Hi Annette, I've also donated whatever is needed for the study and then willed the rest of my body to Science Care for further research. It's the most useful way that I can say thanks for the care and research that has allowed me to live for the past 54 years with type 1. I'm grateful to have been given this opportunity, so yes, I certainly

I've been thinking about an answer to this since I first read it. Julie's post helped. I was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of eight. I've never been able to afford a pump, have used MDI for many years and I've also had serious lows. When I started graduate studies in 1977 I was by then a single parent. My daughter was 7. After several days of not reading the board I had to log in yesterday and get a new password. After all the problems I had when first attempting to use the forum I never logged out, There must have been a major glitch in the past couple of days to require that we all log in again. Jan

I've lived with type 1 since 1955, had cataract surgery on my right eye four years ago with wonderful results. Although I still need to wear glasses, the surgery restored my color vision. Since I'm a visual artist, color is of immense importance to me. If my left eye wasn't so damaged from laser surgery (for retinopathy) I wouldn't hesitate
