  • Bikram ("hot") yoga

I was going to ask on here before I tried it, but I have just done two weeks of Bikram yoga. (For those unfamiliar with it, it's yoga poses done in a room heated to 95-105F with 50% humidity.) It looked like my blood pressure was finally under controlled, so I tried it. Mistake. I soon got that "heart pounding in head" high BP warning

And what is up with the bogus tag cloud on the home page? Do we really talk about pumpkins that often? And what's up with the oddly named "Type II Humalog and Lantus" one? How are they generating their tag cloud?

Well, that assumes that you know what Joslin is. Did you when you were first diagnosed? When I googled Joslin just now, the link was to http://www.joslin.org/ . From there, you have to select Discussion Boards. Not very web-friendly to someone newly diagnosed.

They didn't promise an improvement. They promised a sponsor and new software. Well, we got it. One reason Google doesn't find this board is that the admins haven't told them about it *or* executed a redirect file . And the meta-keywords are still "diabetes, discussion board, forums, community, type 2, type 1, insulin." We at least

Here is what is in the metadata now: <meta name = "keywords" content = "diabetes, discussion board, forums, community, type 2, type 1, insulin" / > < meta name = "description" content = "Welcome to the Joslin Diabetes Center's diabetes discussion boards. • Re: losing muscle control during lows

Anne, I test 8-12 times a day. The before-and-two-hours-after thing is pretty standard for type 1s. And I've been way lower than 41 plenty of times so it wasn't a "severe low" on my scale. Just the symptoms were severe. Short-Jan, Glad I'm not the only one. This last one made me want to see a neurologist. Talk about helplessness

  • losing muscle control during lows

This has happened to me twice, the second time this weekend. It's not a seizure, though that has happened, too. Many years ago I had a low that made me unable to walk. I could still move my arms and got to some sugar by pulling myself down the hall and eating things that were low in the fridge. Always kept sugar on my bedside table after that one

    > Lets face it 100 years ago they starved a diabetic to death............So we cannot assume any one diet is a good one, based on the past history of what the doctors did and thought. NOW all seems to be blamed on the patient. Not watching his or her diet. I way to pass the BUCK. The reality is that nothing much has been learned about diabetes and
