    I agree with Tina, if your son hates the idea of something hanging from his belt, have him try an Insulet Omnipod. The company will send you one or two simulated "pods" to have him try, to see if he can get used to it.     In regards to the Omnipod, I have been using it for 2 years now. Previously I have used Medtronic MiniMed and Animas pumps as well. I am very satisfied with my Omnipod. I love not have any tubing. However I cannot answer whether ro not you can use Regular insulin with this or any of the pumps. Pumps are basically designed to use with Novolog or Humalog

    I agree with an ealier post about the "honeymoon period." Also there is much learning for your family, as well as your son, on how to properly take care fo his diabetes. Using an insulin pump isn't always easy either. You have to test to check the basals rates from time to time and with each person, it is different how often you have to
