If you removed the pump, how would you get it through security? I don't know about the OmniPod, but Minimed and Animas pumps cannot go through X-ray machines. I wear a Minimed and I will not wear it through the scanners. Both Minimed and Animas are advising their pump users not to wear the pump into them. In fact, due to my concerns about radiation

AODM, or Adult Onset Diabetes Mellitus, is a synonym for Type 2 Diabetes that medical professionals sometimes use. If you were told this is what you have, it would be Type 2, not Type 1.

Mike, I use the small clip that came in the box with my 522 pump. It is durable and I have only had to replace one in my 8 years of pumping. It costs $10 at the Minimed store if you did not get one in your box. I usually clip it to my waist of my skirt or slacks or to my underwear if I am wearing a dress or nightgown. I have found the pump to be very

Mike, I got my 522 in 2007, after having the first paradigm model 511 for 5 years. The 522 is so much better than the 511, but it has been replaced now with an even newer model. By the time I am ready for my next pump, there will probably be an even newer model. Julia

Jen, I just saw this story from today's NYT that illustrates your doctors' point. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/05/health/05insulin.html Very interesting story about insulin. I thank God every day for it. [quote user="jen1229"] My om once asked the doctor if a person could survive without a pancreas. His reply "Yes, but you'd

I'm not on Medicare yet but my sister is and has Part D. She was just informed that her Part D supplier ( or did she say Part C?), United Healthcare thru AARP, will no longer be in the business next year. So she is waiting for more news on what her options are for another Part D supplier. She has not reached the donut hole yet for this year - she

It is not accurate to say that these complications occur no matter what. They occur for some and not for others and I believe the answer lies more with genetics than in how fastidious we are. I have had several of my doctors echo the same analysis to me.

Insulin does not sound drastic at all to me but then I am a Type 1 who needs insulin to survive. My blood sugar was about 344 last night also, a few hours after changing my pump infusion set. I took an extra 2.7 units of insulin according to the calculation my pump made for me and it was a bit too much. I woke up at 5:30 this morning at 49. My life

MikeyDee, I use a medtronic 522 pump which I like very much, but I have not gotten the CGMS, which is a separate piece of equipment and requires a separate insertion. I read the posts at a group called insulinpumpers.org, about how people like the CGMS, and it seems like there are still alot of kinks to work out of it. However, it would do the job of

I was wondering if that was the case when I read it. But it looked like a big new announcement and it sounded like good news. I hope they follow through on their promises too, Bill.
