  • What is a good HbA1c for type 1 diabetics

My daughter is a 21-year-old college student who has had type 1 diabetes for 16 years. Her last two HBa1c's were 7.7 and 7.8 respectively. Her doctor tore into her for not "rotten" HbA1c's. I think for a brittle diabetic these were very good numbers. She tends to "crash" a...

My typical hourly basal of 1.2 quickly rose to 9.0 and that didn't even budge my sugars from the upper 300's. However, later in the day, it was as if all the insulin started working and...

  • Re: Educating assisted living/skilled nursing staff about type 1?

Medication aides, or medication technicians are usually passing meds in the assisted living. This is a bit of a surprise to me also. I've talked to a local geriatric care manager about the situation. She says that at this facility, the techs seem to run the place. The management doesn't seem...

  • Book worth checking out

Have any of you read "This Side of Normal"? It's a fantastic YA novel about a fifteen-year-old kid who acquires type 1. Google it of you don't know it. I think you can read chapter 1 online. Thought I should share.
